You've got a group of friends, a bride-to-be, and a long weekend on the Costa del Sol. The pool parties and beach clubs are sorted. But you want something different — something everyone will actually remember. Something that doesn't involve another round of cocktails at 2pm.
Here's an idea: make chocolate together.
Why Hen Groups Love Our Workshops
At Mayan Monkey in Mijas Pueblo, we host hen parties, birthday groups and girls' trips every week. It's not what most people expect from a chocolate workshop — there's music, laughter, a bit of competitive decorating, and the kind of photos that actually make it to Instagram (not just the Stories).
Everyone works at their own station, creating their own chocolate bars, bonbons, or truffles. You choose your toppings from over 50 options, design your decorations, and take home everything you make. The bride gets to feel special (we can arrange a personalised touch), and nobody has to pretend they're enjoying a life-drawing class.
Which Workshop for a Hen Party?
Best for Smaller Groups: Bonbons & Bars
The Bonbons & Bars workshop (~35 min, from €35) is our most popular hen party choice. You learn real chocolatier techniques — casing, piping, sealing — and create 6 luxury soft-centre bonbons plus beautifully decorated bars. It includes the "Chocolate Rain" encounter, which is exactly as fun as it sounds. Long enough to feel like a proper activity, short enough to leave time for lunch and prosecco afterwards.
Best for a Full Experience: Classic Chocolatiers
If you want the full experience, the Classic Chocolatiers (~1h 5min, from €47.95) gives you a bit of everything — chocolate-dipped fruits, hot chocolate sticks, hand-rolled truffles, bonbons, marbled figurines, and deco bars. It's varied, fun, and generates brilliant content for the group chat.
Best for the Luxury Hen: The MMM Masterclass
The MMM Masterclass (~2h 15min, from €135) is our premium adult experience for ages 12+. Welcome drinks with artisan chocolates, a bean-to-cup hot chocolate journey where you roast and grind raw cacao beans, advanced bonbon techniques with stamps and lustre powders, and a wine and chocolate pairing. You take home over 1kg of chocolate in a gift box. This is the one for hen groups who want something genuinely special.
For the Fun-Loving Group: Love at First Bite
Our Love at First Bite couples experience (€60/person, ~1 hour, ages 16+) works brilliantly for hen groups too. It explores chocolate's history as the "food of lovers" — Maya and Aztec rituals, European tradition — while you create hand-painted love hearts, hot chocolate bombs, and decorated bars with a guided tasting. Perfect theme for a bride-to-be.
Practical Stuff for Hen Groups
- Group size: We can accommodate groups of up to 30+. For larger parties, we'll arrange dedicated workshop times.
- Booking: Drop us a message with your group size and preferred date — we'll sort the rest.
- Duration: 25 minutes to 2+ hours depending on which workshop you choose.
- What to wear: We provide aprons. Wear whatever you'd normally wear for a day out — this isn't messy (unless you want it to be).
- Photos: Absolutely encouraged. The workshop space is designed to look good on camera.
- Allergies: We work with milk, dark, and white chocolate. Let us know about any dietary requirements in advance and we'll accommodate.
More Than Just the Workshop
Mijas Pueblo is one of the prettiest white villages on the Costa del Sol — cobbled streets, stunning views, and plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance. Most hen groups combine the workshop with lunch in the village, making it a perfect half-day activity.
We're at Plaza Virgen de la Peña 15, right in the centre. Open daily 10:30am – 6:00pm (until 9pm in summer).
Not Just for Hens
Birthday groups, girls' weekends, team outings, baby showers — the format works for any group of adults who want to do something creative together without it feeling forced. No artistic talent required. Just enthusiasm and a love of chocolate.
